Salivary Testing
Dental benefits provider United Concordia Dental has partnered with Harmony Health on a pilot program using salivary testing technology.
Harmony Health is the nonprofit arm of Oral Genome, the developer of a salivary test that detects biomarkers associated with caries and periodontitis.
The pilot program is designed to evaluate how salivary testing can enhance preventive dental care for underserved communities in Pennsylvania. It involves four hundred Medicaid-enrolled children and adults, focusing on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as stated in an Oct.6 news release.
Three dental organizations are also participating in the program, including North American Dental Group, Miracle Dental Associates, and the Westmoreland County Community College Dental Hygiene Program.
Results from the pilot will be used to inform strategies for nationwide expansion.
